Goals & Performance

Before you donate to Goodwill or support our programs by shopping in our stores, you may want to check out our goals and how we are performing:

  2007 Goals 2007 Actual 2008 Goals
Served 5,900 7,480 8,000
Placed 1,800 2,312 2,400
Retained 1,200 1,496 1,680

What do the terms: served, placed, and retained mean?

Served:  a meaningful interaction with a client.  Perhaps we interviewed them to see what their employment interests/skills were, and directed them in a job search.  We might have worked on their resume to freshen it and to help them best explain situations that might raise a red flag for hiring managers such as getting out of prison or not working for a number of years. We might have simply assisted them in doing independent research through classifieds or some other job lead source.  We do not count someone served who only calls in for information and who does not come in for more direct assistance.

Placed:  putting a client to work either at a local business or at Goodwill.  This is the next step up from being served.  This is when a Goodwill career counselor actually helps the client land a job.

Retained:  when a client achieves 90 days of steady employment.  After being placed, a client that stays at the same job for over three months is counted as a retained client.
